Pharrell (Pharrell Williams) is a vibrant American rapper, recording artists, singer, record producer, composer and fashion designer was born on April 5, 1973. Pharrell and Chad Hugo invented the record production duo “The Neptunes”, producing sensational hip hop and R&B music. He is the lead vocalist and drummer of the famous hip-hop band “N.E.R.D”, which was formed with Chad Hugo and his childhood friends: Shay Haley and Mike Etheridge.
He has already created history from becoming the most successful and creative producers to surface in the last decade. Pharrell and Hugo have assisted many A-List pop stars sell numerous albums and also received Grammy Awards for the likes of Usher, Justin Timberlake and Nelly. In 90s “The Neptunes” took part in a high school talent show through which they got discovered by record producer Teddy Riley. Immediately after graduating from the high school, they signed the group signed with Teddy Riley. Pharrell penned a verse for Wreckx-N-Effect’s in the 1992 hit “Rump Shaker” and performed a tiny rap solo on SWV’s hit (UK Remix) “Right Here”. Hugo and Pharrell established them as a production duo under “The Neptunes” and produced Blackstreet’s self-titled album “Tonight’s The Night” in 1994.
The distinctive “Neptunes sound,” came in front on N.O.R.E.’s “Superthug” in the year 1998, peaking at 36th position on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart and allowing them to garner universal attention for the very first time. One of his friends introduced him to Kelis in 1999 that resulted in Pharrell producing her first album “Kaleidoscope.” The Neptunes garnered a massive fanbase and audience attention. “The Neptunes” produced Britney Spears’ single named “I’m a Slave 4 U” in 2001 making it their first universal top hit single.
“The Neptunes” reached on the top in the U.S. with Nelly’s hit single “Hot in Here” in 2002. They also produced Clipse debut album “Lord Willin’” in August 2002. They also released Justin Timberlake’s debut studio album “Justified” in 2002 with 50% of the songs produced by them. They also released a self-credited album “The Neptunes Present Clones” in the year 2003, with several hit songs and remixes from different artists which topped the Billboard 200 Albums chart. They soon got connected with Jay-Z, producing numerous hit singles for him and two songs on his self-titled album “The Black Album” in 2003.
They also remixed the Daft Punk hit song “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” in 2003 for the duo’s badly-received remix album “Daft Club”. N.E.R.D’s next funk rock-based album “Fly or Die” got released in March 2004. Madonna released her 11th album titled “Hard Candy” including vocals from Pharrell and production from The Neptunes on many tracks. In the year 2009, He started working with the famous rapper “Game” for his fourth studio album named “The R.E.D.
